Yes, another blog

So I'm sitting here making yet ANOTHER blog. This isn't my corporate-rah-rah-we-have-software-and-I-like-my-job-and-I-like-my-customers blog. Nor is this my friends-and-family-life-chronicling-angst-tinted blog. This one, is -- well one about what is going on professionally.

These days I'm a software designer by job title, but I came to this discpline in a round about way. I've always been a troubleshooter and a pragmatist. For about a decade I worked as a consultant, tackling problems where it is paramount to get something that "worked". I addressed breakdowns in existing softwares, and figured out some expedient method to solve the current need. Along the way I became well versed in customer workflows and problems, and it an assortment of tools to address these challenges. I started to refer to myself as an "8 of all trades" do to my assorted point knowledge on a variety of tools

But then I left this consulting role to become a software designer. Not it isn't paramount to get something that worked, it needs to work well. Its been an interesting few years learning this role. I'm not sure I'll ever be a stereotypical designer, but I am gaining an appreciation for the tools of the design trade.

So here it is, another designer blog. This one with my musings as an outsider who is coming into software design with a pragmatic focus on what design brings to the table.
